Farmers of Mill Creek Watershed Council
We are a group of farmers who have come together because we care about the soil, water and farmers.
We would like to share information with you about a new farmer-led committee that has gotten started in the Mill Creek watershed.
Our goals are:
- Further educate ourselves and our neighbors on phosphorus best management practices with the goal of improving water quality of the Mill Creek in Portage and Wood Counties.
- Focus on adopting more environmentally friendly farming practices that will ensure clean water and healthy soils for future generations while maintaining or improving profitability.
- The ultimate goal of the Farmers of Mill Creek Watershed Council is to be stewards of environmental sustainability for our land and water in our watershed.
We’d also like to demonstrate to the public that farmers are conservation leaders – we care about our land and water and are doing everything we can to take care of it.
Our committee is directed by farmers, and is completely voluntary and non-regulatory. We are getting assistance from Extension and the Portage and Wood County Land and Water Conservation Departments.
Please feel free to reach out to us for more information. You can send an email or call the Portage County Agriculture Agent, Ken Schroeder at 715-346-1318.
Sincerely,
The Farmers of Mill Creek Watershed Council
